I feel the need to write this new page,
after having read Brian Bates book, "The Way of Wyrd", published by HayHouse priced £7.99. The book
was so kindly given to me as a gift by Garry Chapman, one of the men who has partaken in my workshops and who has also
been initiated into the mystical, sacred and masculine energies of our Celtic God, Cernunnos. The picture above, depicting
the Christian Passion, is by the way very special to me, personally; as I play every day, the Great 1882 organ console beneath
it's wonderful window. It goes to show, that every faith, is valid and sings it's own pure spiritual song unto the Divine.
The reason I am writing this new page is
due to the fact that since I can recall, I have been singing nonsense words, that make no sense whatsoever; the words are
not even English; some of the words sound like Welsh, Latin or Arabic. I just put it down to me being, well, um either clever
or daft! Lol. Then I came upon Chapter 13, pages 225 and 226 of Brian Bates book, "The Way of Wyrd"; it
had a profound impact on me and left me thinking quite deeply about the words I had read. In the book, Wulf (The Anglo-Saxon
Shaman), tells Brand, a Christian monk, sent on a mission by his Abbot to ascertain the ways of the pagans, that he has to
sing his own song to recapture his lost soul. Brand replies he does not know what to sing. Wulf's reply is startling "Sing
your own song. Do not worry about the words, just make the sounds that come to you! The spirits will understand. The songs
you need are within you. You will know the words when the time comes, for the essence of your guardian spirit is within you.
Float your word-hoard on the waves of wyrd; the power to release your guardian spirit lies within you". Truly this is what
is meant by "singing in the spirit"!
These words in chapter 13 of "The Way of
Wyrd" are simply amazing and deeply filled with the spirit. For me personally the songs that I have sung, that make no sense
at all, now are sacred songs; songs that come from deep within me, that neither I or anyone else understands. It is truly a sacred song.
I hope by sharing this with you all, it
will help others who like me, have come to experience the same; your not going mad... it is your own song. Sing your own song!
The spirits will understand. Finally, if ever Brain Bates comes across my website, may I just say that your book is filled
with a great depth of spiritual wisdom and opens up a portal, wherby we can glimpse a little of the deep spiritual ways of
Anglo-Saxon paganism. Many thanks for a wonderful book!
Blessed Be
Julian
